Website Visitor Identification & Intent Data

Know who’s on your website, and who’s ready to buy. Data-as-a-service for service businesses.

Most people who visit your website leave without calling or filling out a form. Website visitor identification shows you who they were and what they looked at. Intent data shows you who in your market is researching what you sell right now. I set both up, deliver the leads to your CRM every day and help you follow up while buyers are still deciding.

The service

What Website Visitor Identification Does

A small piece of code (a pixel) runs on your website. When someone visits, the visit is matched against a large, permission-based identity network. When there’s a confident match, you get the person’s name, email, phone number and company where available, plus the pages they viewed, how long they stayed and whether they came back.

Analytics tells you how many people visited. Visitor identification tells you who. Intent data goes one step further and finds the people researching your category who haven’t found your site yet.

Is Visitor Identification Right for Your Business?

It pays off fastest when a single customer is worth a lot and buyers research before they call. That’s most of the businesses I work with:

  • Auto dealerships: shoppers who looked at a specific vehicle, came back and never filled out a form (see how dealers use it)
  • Home services: roofing, HVAC, plumbing and remodeling buyers who are comparing quotes (see how contractors use it)
  • Law firms and professional services: people who read your practice-area or service pages more than once but didn’t call (law firms: read the ethics rules first)
  • Agencies and SEO firms that want to prove the traffic they drive turns into real people

It’s probably not the right fit if:

  • Your site gets very little traffic. Identification needs visitors to identify.
  • Your average sale is small and one-time. The math works best when a customer is worth hundreds or thousands of dollars.
  • Nobody will follow up. Data that sits in a dashboard doesn’t grow anything.

CRM Delivery & Lead Scoring

Identified visitors land in your CRM every day, scored so your team calls the hottest leads first.

Follow-Up Sequences

Email follow-up written in your voice and built to the rules, so identified visitors hear from you while they’re still deciding.

Setup, delivery and support are handled in-house. Identified visitors work best alongside the channels that bring people to your site in the first place: local SEO, SEO and AI search and paid media.

The framework

How It Works: Map, Build, Grow, Multiply

Data without a plan is just a longer spreadsheet. Every data engagement follows the same four stages as the rest of my work.

Stage 01

Map

Define who you want to reach, which pages signal real interest and which topics your buyers research.

Stage 02

Build

Install the pixel, connect your CRM, set up lead scoring and suppression, and update your privacy policy.

Stage 03

Grow

Turn on follow-up: email sequences, retargeting audiences and daily call lists for your team.

Stage 04

Multiply

Add intent audiences, double down on the pages and topics that convert, and cut what doesn’t.

The pixel is live within a day, and most clients see real names within days. The value comes from what you do with them.

Done right

Using Visitor Data Responsibly

Visitor identification is widely used in the U.S., and it comes with real obligations. I set every client up to:

  • Disclose it. Plain-English privacy policy language that says you use visitor identification.
  • Honor opt-outs. Opt-out and do-not-contact requests are suppressed across your data.
  • Follow the outreach rules. Email follows CAN-SPAM. Calls and texts to consumers follow the TCPA, which is stricter. Existing customers are suppressed.
  • Watch state law. California and a few other states have privacy and wiretap laws that apply to website tracking. If you get a lot of California traffic or work in a regulated industry, talk to your attorney about consent before installing any pixel.

This isn’t legal advice. It’s the checklist I use so the data helps your business instead of creating risk for it.

The Ronin difference

Data Alone Doesn’t Grow a Business

Most visitor identification tools hand you a login and a dashboard. Then the leads sit there, because nobody owns the follow-up. I’m a fractional CMO, so the data comes with a plan for using it: the right follow-up for each type of visitor, scoring in your CRM, and a monthly look at who engaged, who booked and what to change.

It also builds value. A buyer wants to know where your customers come from and whether that keeps working without you. A system that captures interested buyers, routes them to follow-up and tracks them to revenue is a marketing asset a buyer can verify. If a sale is on the horizon, see marketing due diligence.

See It on Your Own Site First

  • Free for 14 days: the pixel runs on your website and identifies up to 1,000 visitors at no cost.
  • Your real numbers: who visited, what they looked at and how often they came back, not an industry average.
  • No credit card, no contract: if the data isn’t worth it, the pixel comes off and you owe nothing.

At the end of the trial we walk through exactly who the pixel found, together, and decide whether a plan makes sense.

Website Visitor Identification Pricing

The Visitor ID Pixel starts at $500 a month after the free trial, with setup, daily CRM delivery and lead scoring included. Intent audiences are priced by audience size and refresh rate. Both can be bundled into a fractional CMO engagement with done-for-you follow-up.

There’s no long-term contract. See the plans and start a trial on the data-as-a-service page, or compare the market in what visitor identification costs.

The engagement

How It Runs

  • Day 1: a short setup call and the pixel goes live on your site.
  • Days 1–14: the free trial runs, and identified visitors start arriving in your inbox or CRM.
  • Day 14: we review who it found and choose a plan, or the pixel comes off.
  • Ongoing: daily delivery, follow-up running in the background and a monthly review of what’s converting.

FAQ

Website Visitor Identification FAQ

What is website visitor identification?

A way to see who visits your website. A small pixel matches anonymous visits against a permission-based identity network and, when there’s a confident match, gives you the visitor’s contact details and the pages they viewed.

Will it identify every visitor?

No, and be wary of anyone who says it will. Match rates depend on your traffic, your audience and your industry. That’s why every plan starts with a free trial on your own site, so you see real numbers before you pay.

What’s the difference between visitor identification and intent data?

Visitor identification covers people who already visited your website. Intent data finds people in your market who are researching what you sell but haven’t found your site yet.

How much does it cost?

The Visitor ID Pixel starts at $500 a month after a free 14-day trial covering up to 1,000 identified visitors. Intent audiences are priced by audience size and refresh rate. There’s no long-term contract.

Is website visitor identification legal?

It’s widely used in the U.S. when it’s done responsibly: disclosed in your privacy policy, with opt-outs honored and outreach that follows CAN-SPAM and TCPA rules. State laws vary, so check with your attorney if you have many California visitors or work in a regulated industry. See is website visitor identification legal?

Will the pixel slow down my website?

No. It loads asynchronously, so it doesn’t hold up the rest of the page.

Do I need a fractional CMO engagement to use it?

No. You can use the data on its own. If you want it turned into booked appointments, it can be bundled into a fractional CMO engagement with done-for-you follow-up.
